School bus warning lights don’t stop all drivers from breaking the law

School bus warning lights don’t stop all drivers from breaking the law.

An article in the local newspaper Powhatan Today discusses the problem of vehicles passing stopped school buses that are loading or unloading children.

The Powhatan school system gets one or two reports every day of this happening.

“If our drivers can get the vehicle license plate then the state’s able to prosecute,”

said Rose Studivant, Assistant Superintendent of Personnel and Transportation for the Powhatan School System.

Failure to stop is a reckless driving offense and can endanger the lives of children or cause an accident.

This is very disturbing news and I wish everyone realized the importance of this. There are reports of wrongful death from impatient drivers passing stopped school buses and hitting and killing children. It is important to insure that these easily preventable accidents do not happen.

O’Bryan Law hopes that your children remain safe and are not injured by such careless drivers.
