Five killed in crashes on Virginia roads

Five killed in crashes on Virginia roads.

The Richmond Times-Dispatch reports on the unfortunate deaths of five people in Virginia car accidents just before Christmas.

Thelma D. Gray died when her car was struck as she was trying to make a left turn in Accomack County.

Also in Accomack County, Samuel George Gilkeson, stuck a utility pole with his truck, got out of his vehicle, was struck by another vehicle, and died at the scene.

In Gloucester, Myrus Maurice Brooks wrecked his car into a guard rail and plunged into an embankment.

Also a 7-month-old boy died when he was ejected from his car seat after his father fell asleep while driving and wrecked the car. Please try and remember to check to make sure your children’s car seats are installed properly and securely and that your child is properly fastened in to the car seat.

William Bailey of Emporia was struck while walking in Emporia and died at VCU medical center.

The good news is that Virginia’s death toll is down significantly for 2008 as compared to 2007.
